Love means serving
Choose an image to open the scene and discover its details.

MOMENT 1 · The bread and the cup
A supper to remember.
Jesus gathers with his disciples for a meal. He takes the bread, thanks God, breaks it and gives it to them, talking to them about giving his life. He also shares the cup and talks to them about the new covenant. He asks them to do this in memory of him.
Remembering Jesus invites us to live his love.

MOMENT 2 · Wash the feet
Love becomes service.
John highlights another gesture during dinner. Jesus gets up from the table, takes a towel and washes the feet of his disciples. Peter is surprised. Then, Jesus explains that he has given them an example so that they too can serve each other.
Serving is taking care of someone with concrete actions.

MOMENT 3 · Pray in Gethsemane
Ask for support in a hard moment.
After the supper, Jesus goes with his disciples to Gethsemane. He feels deep anguish and asks his disciples to stay with him. He steps aside to pray and expresses to the Father what he is experiencing, trusting in his will. He finds his companions asleep and invites them to keep vigil. Shortly after, he is arrested.
In difficult times we can express what we feel and ask for company.

FOUR VOICES, ONE STORY
Return to the Gospels.
The accounts of the supper emphasize different details: Matthew, Mark and Luke narrate the bread and the cup; John highlights the washing of the feet. Christian traditions reflect on its meaning in different ways.
