A family, a path
He was also a child.
He also grew.
A caring family, a journey to safety, and a child who grows and learns. Jesus also knew ordinary days of growing up.

Growing among us
Choose an image to open the scene and discover its details.

MOMENT 1 · The flight to Egypt
Find a safe place.
Wise men from the East arrive to honor Jesus. When Herod threatens his life, Joseph takes Mary and the baby to Egypt. The family leaves their land to get safe.
Care also means seeking safety and staying close to those who need help.

MOMENT 2 · The return to Nazareth
A home in which to grow.
Later, Joseph returns with Mary and Jesus. The family settles in Nazareth, in Galilee. The Gospels do not tell every year of Jesus' childhood, but they show us that he grows up with his family beside him.
Growing up takes time, care and companionship.

MOMENT 3 · Jesus in the temple
Listen and ask questions.
At twelve years old, Jesus converses with the teachers in the temple of Jerusalem: he listens and asks questions. Then he returns to Nazareth with his family. He grows in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and people.
Listening and asking questions are also part of learning.
The illustrations are artistic interpretations of the stories.
TO SAVE IN THE HEART
Learning, asking questions and caring for others are also part of the journey.
FOUR VOICES, ONE STORY
Return to the Gospels.
Matthew 2 tells of the wise men, the flight and the return. Luke 2 tells of the visit to the temple. The Gospels do not describe every year of Jesus' childhood; we respect those spaces without inventing episodes.
