A table for everyone

MOMENT 1 · Five loaves and two fish
It seems little for so many people.
Many people follow Jesus to a hillside next to the lake. Seeing the crowd, Jesus asks how they will feed the crowd. Andrew mentions a boy who has five loaves of barley and two fish. It seems very little for so many people.
The first step to caring is to look at what others need.

MOMENT 2 · Everyone receives food
Give thanks and share.
Jesus asks people to sit down. He takes the loaves, gives thanks and the food is distributed. Everyone eats as much as they need. Matthew tells that Jesus gives the loaves to the disciples and they take them to the crowd: they also participate in taking care of others.
We can participate in care with concrete actions.

MOMENT 3 · Nothing is wasted
Gather what remains.
When everyone has eaten, Jesus asks them to collect the leftover pieces so that nothing is lost. The disciples fill twelve baskets. What seemed so little has been enough for the crowd, and there is still food left.
Sharing and taking care of what we have can go hand in hand.

TO SAVE IN THE HEART
What we have can be put at the service of others.
FOUR VOICES, ONE STORY
Return to the Gospels.
The feeding of the five thousand appears in the four Gospels. The detail of the boy and the loaves of barley comes from John. We do not confuse it with the other episode of the feeding of the four thousand.
